Justin entertained us with real life Ronald Regan jokes (his favorite President), Travis entertained us with silly (or as I called them "lame") facts about himself, and Patrick told us horrific animal tales of his childhood. It was a blessing getting to know everyone better. Praise God for conversations over meals :)

Crazy Interns
Last Thursday we had dinner with the interns and family at the Bull Mouse (the men's housing at CHBC). We had a great time and were excited to meet up every other Thursday for fellowship, dinner, and of course much laughing. I could really see all of the interns and families coming out of there shells...even PJ and I! They are a great bunch and we will miss them dearly when we leave.
PJ was playing Jenga with Caroline, and Elijah.
There's Mark, Justin, and Travis
Caroline and Elijah got along well for the most part :)
A whole lot of belly laughs over gobbled up dinner.

The babysitters Club
Well, I took care of Drew (on Thursday) while Elijah played with Drew's toys. Drew is our associate pastor's son and Rebbecca (Drew's mommy) needed some alone time to prepare for our upcoming women's retreat.
Elijah heading straight to the new toys...he doesn't have much of a selection here in DC.
At times Drew would follow Elijah as he roamed around.
It appears like Elijah was crying but he wasn't, he was trying to tell me something.
I thought this was so cute! Elijah wanted tissue to clean Drew's drippy nose.
Red ball+ 2 boys+ little cute sinners= roughness
Elijah hid under the table and Drew would just crawl around the table laughing hysterically :)
We shall soon return to the Johnson's home to hang out with Drew again. I'm excited to attend the women's retreat and hope I'll be able to go. It's an overnighter so I think PJ will be able to take care of Elijah, we'll see.

The Search...
The charming prince rushes to catch up to her....
He swiftly jumps into his carriage (or buggy)
What a charming prince.
Where can she be? Is she in here? Or is she over there?
He searched high and low for her...
but she was no where in sight, but he recognizes her sparkling shoe she left behind.
He examines the shoe, hoping for more information of this princess.
He realizes his present circumstances (his age) and decides to leave it for another day.
A nostalgic memory-- he'll keep wondering where his Cinderella is.
As Elijah continues to grow, PJ and I want to prepare him for adulthood early. We often talk about Elijah getting married in the future (if the Lord wills) and dream and hope and pray of how we will strive, by the Lord's grace to prepare him for marriage early too. Sometimes I get sad thinking I won't be the woman in his life but I am reminded that I am not God, and that God may have a wonderful young lady who he will one day call his wife. We pray for her frequently and desire they both will call upon the name of the Lord, live godly lives, remain pure until marriage, her parent's salvation, etc. I also pray and hope that he does not awaken love before he ought to, so he can save himself from physical temptation and emotional attachment too early. As I watched Elijah examine the little girl shoe, it reminded me of his future search of his wife.
Lord, how PJ and I pray they will enjoy displaying Christ and the church accurately, by your grace.

Very cute
Elijah does a whole lot of cute stuff, but unfortunately we don't have a video camera, so just a short list of our favorites-
1. When he whines, we tell him not to whine and just tell us what he wants, he then says in a whiny voice "ookay"
2. Loves dancing and sometimes grabs our hand so we can dance with him
3. Knows the whole alphabet, but not necessary in order
4. Pretends to wrestle and count and says his version of "1-2-3- Elijah wins, Elijah wins" sounds more like "2-3 awhema way, awhema way." Don't know why he doesn't say Elijah, he knows his name.
5. Often says "hey, what are you doing?"
6. When we tell him we are gonna go to class (church nursery) he gets so anxious
7. Sometimes he says all the names he knows, right after another for no apparent reason
8. When we ask him if he has poohed he first says "no" and then right after says "zess" (=yes)
9. Loves watching "Nacho Libre," he brings the dvd to me and says "Ignacio, Ignacio!"
10. Any time he watches a basketball game, he cheers "Go Kobe!"

Taquitos for one!
PJ was away all day (4:07am-11:30pm) at North Carolina's SEBTS (Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminar). I'm use to cooking dinner for the whole family and occasionally for visitors, but today I figured I wouldn't cook since it's was just me and Elijah BUT my cravings got to me and I ended up cooking yummy taquitos. I ate all by myself....Elijah was on the couch.
My version of taquitos (well, I inherited them from my mom)-
-heat up corn tortillas, don't burn them
-take off heat and wrap with shredded chicken. When I boil my chicken I add onions and tomatoes and salt (or whatever your choice: beef, seafood, etc),
-heat large skillet with vegetable oil or olive oil
-add rolled up taquitos and make sure all sides get crispy
-put on paper plate to drain excess oils
-serve with shredded lettuce (or spinach), tomatoes, sour cream, and homemade guacamole, and Mexican rice and beans on the side if you like.

Snow Flakes...
On Wednesday it finally snowed for Elijah...what a joy! PJ rushed home to show Elijah the beautiful snow. He enjoyed it very much, as you can see in the pictures.
Right outside our front door.
He called the flakes "bubbles"

Abba always does this to him when it rains--so why not when it snows!
Eating snow.
Yay, snow fight!
Well, maybe next time, a little too cold for the bare hands :)
Thank you Lord for allowing it to snow. You are kind in showing your gracious gifts to your children.

Girls Day Out
On Monday, PJ & Elijah were our coffers. They drove us around and since the boys weren't with us, I declared it "Girls Day Out." It was weird not having my husband and son around, and it was weird taking pictures with someone else other then them two, but we had loads of fun and I felt single, but weird because I have a huge belly that reminded me I totally wasn't. Don't get me wrong I love being married!
Up at the Old Post Office Bell Tower, it has a great view.
At the Botanical Gardens. It was beautiful and it smelled great because of all the different Orchids.
Smell testers.
I was trying to hide from Jazz...but she found me :)

It was so scenic in the garden. We both enjoyed ourselves. As Jazz wondered around, I tried finishing the cross word puzzle they gave at the garden. Jazz was laughing at me and I felt like I was at school again in Botany class.
Jazz was brave and went out on her own while we went home and put Elijah down for nap time. She went touring around, while it was raining, but here in D.C. nothing stops the people from walking. It was fun having Jazz around. Elijah would always say her name and ask for her, but the next day when she was gone he didn't even ask where she was. I think he understood she was leaving and didn't bother asking. Don't worry Jazz he loved hanging out with you.
